Have people seen the article in the NUJ's March 2008 issue of Journalist? It's titled Arabian Nightmares and is a worrying look at the pitfalls facing British journalists who go over to the Emirates to work and th lack of press freedom. It also says this of Martin Newlands' new newspaper, set to launch in March: "If previous attempts to establish an Emirates paper produced to Western standards are anything to go by, this project is unlikely to last long." It all sounds a bit of a nighmare to me. Btw, is this the paper that Gregg Fray is joining - formerly dep editor of the Welsh Daily Post? I used to work with him.
This blog is not associated with the original Dubai Media Observer blog, nor with the author of that blog. It uses the same name due to kind permission of the original DMO author.
