Unfair just started out and brownbook has a fair amount of overpriced ads.

Desert Fish is a quarterly magazine so it doesn't need to be put out a lot. Most of its content is done by the magazine owner who is a photographer and he runs his own studio in dubai. the magazine serves as a way for him to showcase his and his friend's work. so it works out for him.

i dont think any of these titles are needed, are they?
would/has anyone ever purchased one?
still, if someone has the chequebook, it keeps people in jobs and nobody has to pick one up..

are we reading the same brownbook? it has lots of high-end ads.

The same can be said for the whole of TMF's portfolio nowadays, as none of their magazines carry any advertising.

another boring post.
dubai is a media graveyard nothing of any interest every seems to happen except for a lot of crap magazine being published and not sold and a lot of dull whinging from disaffected talentless expats and bombay wallahs.

On another note, has anyone else heard the rumour that Motivate will soon shut its doors? Apparently, it's on the verge of going bust and looking to sell off its main titles.

Admittedly, I've only heard this from one person who knows someone at the company, so can anyone shed anymore light?

Brownbook is a good magazine and makes a profit. Unfair is run by a girl with a very rich daddy. The rest are produced do cheaply, one ad (from the publisher's media buyer mate) takes care of all costs. Fur & Feathers is not a magazine, but a cruel trick played on unsuspecting readers.

Brownbook has a new editor - Chris Lord, the ex-Time Out Art writer.

The latest issue was pretty good and it's a well-designed mag too. It's usually worth a read.

Brownbook always looks good. Very Monocle in it's style. Text is a little poor though, definitely needs tightening up, but a decent enough magazine.

what is the point of Brownbook? ie who is it designed to appeal to and who would the advertiser therefore be?
Nice looking..

Men's Style went down over a year ago. Last I heard, they weren't planning to re-launch it.......

Brownbook is targeted at middle eastern readers as it is an urban guide for the middle east... but it is also interesting for tourists or westerners who want to visit the middle east.. It is unique in the sense that no other magazine is focussed on the MENA region like brownbook is
