Just a thought

Has anyone at ITP proofread the programme for the Media & Marketing Show conference, which is hosted by ITP and Arabian Business? Would have been nice if they could spell Saatchi and Saatchi right, and I'm not sure Joseph Ghossoub would be particularly overjoyed to be plain ole Jo in the agenda. Delighted to see Martin Newland is giving a presentation on What it takes to survive in Middle East Journalism. But what I really want to know is: what the hell are Forenoon Sessions?

And before you start squealing about how we're always slagging ITP off, we're not. We try and post other topics, but you lot end up at the same conclusion anyway. But, to be honest, schoolboy errors like this one are just asking for mockery.

What it takes to survive in Middle East journalism is having bosses who are prepared to allow you to survive.

If Newland thinks he's still in the game due to any personal skill or cunning, he's deluded. The most personal credit he can take is managing to toe the line he's been given.

Plenty of equally and more talented people have failed at the same game, solely because local support was not actually there, or local support got cold feet.

Expats are not running the media, whatever they may think. Nor are they pushing boundaries that haven't already been greenlighted for pushing by at least one local faction.

Bllody hell - a genuine ITP thread, and someone's talking about the National.

"Herding cats" eh. It would probably be easier.

errr, Newland is mentioned in the post.

Saatch and Saatchi... Correct spelling. I think you'll find that it is a Bangladeshi grain importing agency based in Dhaka.

ITP wouldn't get as much flak if they didnt take themselves so seriously.

They are a spiv 2nd rate publisher who add little value to anything anywhere. What is staggering is that actually believe they are "cutting edge" with their devalued licensed titles and crappy "heroes" shite.

Anyone know what's going on with ITP Business' cost-cutting measures at their IMPZ office? They're no longer supplying soft drinks and instructed housekeeping to fill the water coolers with tap water. Still, if you don't like it, it's only a quick 6-lane run over Emirates road to get to the nearest garage, I suppose...

AND they've stopped supplying boiled sweets on the counter in reception. Damn credit crunch.

Don't worry, the monthly ITP employee propaganda newsletter is due out. This will make everyone feel better...
