Burrell stung in Dubai

And who might this be posing as a "business backer" in Dubai?

The usual fake sheikh or someone a bit closer to home?

Hmmm... looks like a Bhoyrul to me. They could swap notes about what it's like standing in the dock...

Don't think that's Bhoyrul as his shirt hasn't got arrows on it.

Can't be Bhoyrul, the lag in this pic is standing up without assistance and doesn't have a Vodka in his hands.

sounds like him, though. and, let's face it, who else would pull that off?

"Let's face it who else could pull that off?" How about Mazher Mahmood you dumb bastard? His by-line is even on it for God's sake.

Oh dear, Mr Grumpy! Did you get a kicking from your sub for poor punctuation this morning? This thread was heading into a lighthearted look at Mr Bhoyrul, perhaps moving onto the rise of the tabloid sting in Dubai. But no...

Anyone heard the story that Bhoyrul did do that sort of sting and doorstepped Robert Mugabe at the Burj. Apprently the authorities threatened to close down ITP if they reported he'd been in the country. So best not tell anyone...

Yeah, right. And the Pope was at Wild Wadi.

Speaking of the UAE's finest hacks, it's been a few days since someone (but NOT, of course, the man himself) put up an anonymous message saying how fantastic Mark Johnson is, so can I just say he was the best journalist Dubai's ever seen and all the media problems since are thanks to his absence.
Thank you.

Oh dear 'i'm not mark'. Are you a little minion who didn't like his old boss then?

Johnson is old news. If you're gonna start a 'bitch' can we have summit current please. I.E. should al jazeera have been thrown out of an Iranian press conference yesterday? Another example of the great treatment media gets out here!

This guy is shorter than Mr Anal Boil.

How is it an example of 'how the media gets treated here'

Al Jazeera is banned from ALL Iranian press conferences, hence they were thrown out.

Newspapers and journalists get banned from press conferences in the West too you know.

Funny that, you'd think the purpose of a successful 'press' conference would actually require some press to be there.

Small minds...

It might be Neil Sawyer in heavy make-up?

People get banned from press conferences all the time in the West...not quite sure what the fuss is about. They don't want Al Jazeera to be there. That's their perogative.

You think the President of Iran holding a press conference will struggle to attract attention without Al Jazeera? AJ turned up for publicity alone. Oldest trick in the book, banned, then try to sneak in and get thrown out in front of the world's media (nothing wrong with that, most provocative media outlets would do the same)

They probably didn't even have to give away an MP3 player...
