Let the braying cease! Yes, we've been slack in updating.
We've been too busy checking Facebook every 90 seconds to see if it's been blocked by Etisalat to do any posting/moderating/work. We sent out the work experience juniors to find snippets for DMO but they only came back with tales of exploitation and dissent among the masses - old news.
Situation normal to be resumed as soon as possible.

So how about, duh, posting a new topic then?
Or, the old one on the previous post. Racism at good ol' ET. What was that about "bloody Indian subs", again?
Or is it that journos in Dubai don't talk about it? Is it the lets-pretend-it-does-not-happen way of looking at things...? Now which race/country does that, I wonder.
Sitting and watching the way office politics works at Emirates Today is fascinating. There are untalented, lazy indivduals in every department and they include Indians, Brits and Arabs. It is easy for the business editor Yazad - yes we know it is you - to throw an accusation of racism onto this blog when he hears something he does not like. Maybe he should worry about making ET a better product rather than playing office politics. Oh, and Yazad, we know all about your out-of-office activities with a nice young former member of staff.
Yes and, Yazad, accusing people openly and without evidence of having a drink problem is libellous. Conceited self-righteous knob, you are.
Word has it there are BIG shake up plans afoot (Kane) at ET business.
Know what I mean, Yazad?
What's afoot at Time Out. Editorial staff leaving/touting their CVs to rival mags/companies. ITP seem to shuffle the pack there every couple of years.
Yazad has, on many occasions, made comments about "the whites" and loves to stir things up in the office. The problem at ET is a lack of quality - regardless of race. It is not a racist office but the people who are not up to standard use this as a convenient way to cover up their shortcomings.
yea, you've got white racist freaks in ET. it is the truth!! People who worked in villages in the UK, mind you when i say VILLAGES, and then speak and act like they just landed from the guardian or independent. Maybe their families owned it. Trust me when I say, just a few have national newspaper experiences at all... n they claim they know the world. Let's get it plain and naked here, yea the naked truth out in the open. All the white, over-rated journos in ET are just here for the money and the lifestyle. Forget all the crap about changing the face of journalism in the Middle East and bringing up standards of the newspaper industry. It's just plain, clear and simple that there is more than wht meets the eye. The reality is that any of this self-professing white supremacists would bend over for any paper who is willing to shell out the money. All the hype about press freedom and being objective will take a backseat. Yea, these slimy white cockroaches will even reach the Subcontinent one day, just to work under the brown editors, face any s**t as long as they have the beach, the sun and the money!!! According to the World Press Freedom Committee, a Islamist country in the Subcontinent ranks above any other in terms of press freedom... Pakistan. They get beaten but they write any anything!!
I really hope the post above was not written by someone who thinks they are a journalist. Dreadful in every way. What on earth are you talking about?
I do not like posting messages on blogs, but the level of bitching here is forcing me to.
Let us get something straight: all isms exist everywhere.
I can bet my last cent that if ET had only Asian staff, there would have been friction based on nationalities or regional identities; the same applies if it had only white staff.
That is the truth.
Secondly, just like there are good white journalists in ET there are good Asian journalists, period.
Finally, some people accuse others of coming to the UAE just to earn money.
Well, why did you come here? I am sure you did not come here to change the world.
Drop this holier-than-thou attitude because, frankly, I am sick of it.
And to those who think all Asians are useless, trust me that is not the case.
i was in the meeting and he did say bloody indians too.
jason got levied in a borrowed tux? who by? do tell, this is fascinating...
Indian and another at 20.51 and 23.54,
Is this a denial from Mr Simpson?
no, from the missus.
Whoa .... now this is wat i call a 'BITCHING SESSION'!!! none u of people have had d nerve to voice ur thoughts out in d open whenever u come across any remarks or actions that could be classified under 'racism'. N wen someone finally does have d balls to stand up for wat he thinks is right, n i wud second that, u nitwits try backstabing him by coming up wit "we know all about your out-of-office activities with a nice young former member of staff". wat do u care ... work is work .. n wats personal stays personal. for once, lets ur work do the talking for U.
whose work? colin's? he cannot get his prepositions right. sue's nice, though. primrose's? she works? yazad knows his stuff. eudor likes his mustaches. the ed is on holiday.
what happened to charisse? i liked charisse
I didn't know so many people even read the ET. And who is this Colin character anyway?
And Surely Levy didn't get to borrow (and return) a tux...they wouldn't be able to take it back after it had been shortened to such a degree!
I have worked with Colin since he joined ET and for those who don't know Colin he is the most experienced and respected journalist at ET. He has brought more to the paper in the past few months than anyone since it launched over two years ago. He has made certain sections readable, has constant ideas, is a great headline writer and an all round nice guy. The number of years he spent working at News of the World proves this. It saddens me to read some of the comments on this blog attacking him from small minded, jealous journalists that see him as a threat.
