DIT has a world-renowned business magazine? Perhaps they also need a sub to hack the advert in half?

So that'll be the English language edition of Forbes then.
Worth applying, even if it is shit... it'd look good on the CV later.

how many of you 7 Days lovers have any idea why 6 days has now become 5 days? it has not published on friday for several weeks now.

take a quick look at the trite crap that fills the pages of 'Arabian Business' and then someone try to explain to me the publishing proposition for a 'Forbes' here. Another useless press release mouthpiece? More make-nice busi snews? The lisencing fees alone will kill it.

Hasn't DIT been publishing Forbes (Arabic) now for more than a year? They may not be shelling out much more then for the English Middle East version. Anyway, all they do is re-purpose content from the main mag. Boring.

mason levy..(!)

7DAYS went to 5-a-week for August.

Back to 6-a-week from Sep onwards.

Forbes Arabic has been around for more than 2 years I think.

Would you guys kindly address the shutting down of ADDMEDIA please :)

pretty pretty pretty please.

Could the sudden demise of Addmedia be because that Campus thing and Buzz both had all the production values of a primary school newspaper?

Anonymous said...

oh really? addmedia is dead? so what is the lebanese gang-bang doing now? campus was one awful publication!! even Toady wrote about some stupid article they featured (on aphrodisiacs i think!) and some parent got angry.

Anonymous said...

This wil make for some great Addmedia reading.

Anonymous said...

Oh well, one less mediocre UAE publication. One down, 5776765959875498 to go...

Anonymous said...

That shit wasn't lebanese in actuality ..

it was sub asian driven ..

I read that kipreport given and it was categorically denied by Addmedia and they are claiming advertising is booked solid for the next 3 months .. and yet staff are jumping ship?

Who were these editors that came up with the primary school material?

I'd like to meet with the sources of this plagiarized stuff.

So campus journal is not dead? What are you saying Mr. Qeblawi??

The topic is really not that important in relation to more important world events but I mean do Gulf News think that this does not constitute outright plagiarizm so they can get away with it?

Do they honestly think that we are that dumb.

Well, writing an article on rock chicks, given that Pink's in town, is hardly surprising. Also, choice of profiles is markedly different, and the individual articles are also very different, with Gulf News being the more detailed. Way, way short of plagiarism.

Anyone covering GITEX? Fun and games in the press room, where – for once – DWTC has listened to the media and banned PRs from getting in. Fantastic if you’re an IT hack trying to meet a deadline – but causing screaming fits from every bunny in town. Best quote so far: “You have to let us in for the good of Dubai! The media lives by what we write!”

any thoughts on this?

Virgin taking over Dubai 92, eh? Well, if it means no more Catboy and Geordie Bird crapping on about who didn't wash up last night, Geordie Bird laughing sycophantically at Catboy's jokes and consistently revealing herself to be about as sharp as a bowling ball then it sounds like it good be a good thing.

DIT has just fired 2 Arabic editors of an IT magazine.Rumors to the reason of the axe are nasty at this point, so I will leave it to others to dig the dirt.

Anonymous said...

Just got news that DIT has shut its doors... Anybody got any gossip on that.

yes..Forbes Arabia has been in the region since May 2004 and has been very successful, even in the downturn. DIT has lost the licence but the mag will be published through another media co very soon....plus an English version. We were very successful over the last 5 years even during the credit crisis. We also recieved an excellent compensaton package....unlike many other psuedo Media co's here...
