Following the latest round of layoffs, and a lot more time spent in cafes with fellow out of work journalists, there seems to be a growing trend for companies not to pay former staff their.
ENG Media seem to be the worst. TMF appear pretty bad. Gulf News not too bad, so far.
Anyone on here had bad experiences with these guys, or are others worse?
DMI has shown itself to be a leading light when it comes to not paying staff their due, despite the mass layoff when EB shut down. The labour law has been cited, but I am sure the company has violated quite a few clauses of that law.

The copy desk at Gulf News has been cut to a skeleton crew and copy editors are working like slaves. The latest rumour is that there will be a further shake-up in October. Most people who work on the copy desk are looking around desperately for somewhere else to go. So if they don't hurry up, Gulf News may not be left with anyone to retrench.
